Driving is permitted on designated beaches. The speed limit is 15 mph.
ATV Vehicles are not allowed.
An overnight camping permit is required for staying through the night. All
campers must register at an entrance booth or self-registration drop box.
Self-registration envelopes are available at the Iron Rangers near
the Entrance Stations and in Modern Campgrounds. When beach camping
areas are full, visitors will be directed to the nearest beach area with
open space.

A $2.00 late fee will be charged for failure to register within one hour
of setting up camp.

Camping fees are in addition to park entry permits.
Quiet times are from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily. Please respect
the rights of others who are seeking a quiet, restful experience.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited, except in concession
structures.
Glass food and drink containers are prohibited on the beaches.
Fireworks are prohibited.
Off-road vehicle hill climbing is prohibited. Accesses are provided
to and from the beaches. Help protect the fragile dune environment.
Orange fences will be found in several areas on the lake. These signify
vehicle-free beach zones where no motor vehicles are allowed. Foot
traffic, tent camping and boat-in activities are permitted in all vehicle-free
zones.
Please note and do not enter other fenced areas posted for nesting grounds
of endangered species. Refer to the "Tern and Plover" brochure available
at the park office for more information.
Place garbage and other refuse in plastic bags and deposit in containers
provided. Bags are available at the park office and from entrance booth
personnel. Please keep your campsite and the lake clean by picking
up litter.
Draining RV sewage holding tanks is illegal. Please use dump stations
provided for your convenience. The location of RV dump stations can
be found on the facilities page.
Pets are welcome at Lake McConaughy, but they must be kept on leashes no
longer than 6 feet.
Discharging firearms anywhere on the recreation area is unlawful. See
the hunting guide for exceptions.
