Approximately four miles west of the dam on the north side of Lake McConaughy, Sandy Beach is located at the western end of the Shoreline Road. It is a favorite site for "light" sailboat launching, wind surfing and jet skiing. There is a beautiful stretch of fine white sand beach, undoubtedly accounting for this area's name. The beach has a gradual slope, so the waters of Lake McConaughy at this area provide a gently sloping floor making it one of the lake's most popular swimming beaches. |
