Located south of Lewellen on Hwy 26, Ash Hollow is a beautiful area noted for its historical significance.

The Ash Hollow State Historical Park provides a visitor's center explaining the history of the area.  There are exhibits describing prehistoric animals, early man, Plains Indians and the Oregon Trail.  A restored schoolhouse, a trading post site, and a nature trail also are located here.

In addition to the visitor's center, there are picnic areas, and drinking water and restrooms are available.
